Uninstall and local data
Removing the Astramar application does not automatically erase your local phrase library. The app bundle and Application Support data are separate.
Before removing the app
Section titled “Before removing the app”- Export a current
.phrasepilotbackup from Settings → Library (Free and Pro personal export). - Store that export somewhere outside Applications and outside
~/Library/Application Support/PhrasePilot/. - Optionally export a Diagnostic Summary if you may need support later — it is metadata-only.
- Quit Astramar completely.
- Confirm you can open or locate the backup before deleting anything else.
Remove the application
Section titled “Remove the application”Move the installed app from Applications to the Trash. On disk the bundle is often still named PhrasePilot.app; Dock and menus show Astramar.
Removing the app does not remove:
- exported
.phrasepilotbackups stored elsewhere - the Application Support library, recovery backups, or preferences until you delete those deliberately
Local library and settings
Section titled “Local library and settings”Personal library, settings, recovery material, and related local state live under Application Support (PhrasePilot technical paths). Leaving that data in place lets a later reinstall pick up the existing local state.
Delete Application Support data only when you want a complete reset and have confirmed that no recovery copy is needed. Do not hand-edit or selectively delete persistence-envelope files as an uninstall shortcut.
If you keep the data and reinstall, launch from Applications so permissions attach to the build you intend to keep.
Permissions cleanup
Section titled “Permissions cleanup”After removing the app, review System Settings → Privacy & Security (especially Accessibility and Input Monitoring) and remove obsolete Astramar / PhrasePilot rows for builds you no longer use.
A reinstall — especially after changing from ad-hoc to team-signed or distribution-signed builds — may require granting permission again.
